2020-03-21: COVID-19 Update
All state courts are closed until April 6, 2020. Housing court is closed until April 21, 2020. Worcester Probate & Family court will not be hearing cases until May 1, 2020. The Probate & Family Court has issued an order stating that parenting time court orders are not “stayed.” This means you MUST follow the court order or the parties must both agree to an alternate schedule. I can only assume other courts will soon follow. The only exception is limited emergency hearings which are court determined and approved.
The office is still operating with limited office staff and video appointments. As always, we are just a telephone or email away and are here to help.
One of the ways that we continue to help our clients is by handling all aspects of a real estate conveyance. People can still convey real estate and the registry is still open for recording the documents.
We can also review any contracts, communicate with potential litigants to negotiate a resolution, mediation any legal dispute and draft up the relevant contracts/settlement agreement, conduct discovery for ongoing litigation, discuss and draft up estate planning documents.
Generally speaking, I ask my clients to do some homework to better assist them. Now that you are home, if we book an appointment you can start (and likely finish your homework) before you even resume your normal work routine. The best way to protect yourself is to be educated and the best education is by speaking with a lawyer who can help you through the legal process. Give yourself a break from the children, the family members, the news media and learn something about what has been bothering you legally by scheduling a video conference.
Discovery is still being conducted and cases are still being negotiated for settlement. If you have any questions or want advice on a new matter, please reach out to us. We are happy to help.

Reeves Lavallee, P.C. is a Worcester area law firm offering services as a general practitioner to the public, focusing mainly on family law, probate, and buying & selling of real estate. One of the top three areas of law in the industry is currently family law, specifically pertaining to divorces, custody, and modifications. Our attorneys have years of experience in these specific fields to assist the needs of the community. Probate law and estate planning are on the rise because the baby boomers are now either: (1) seeking to draft wills and do estate planning, or (2) passing away, thus needing an estate to be probated.
